Iterate vs start over
Knowing when to keep refining and when to start fresh is a real skill. As a chat fills up, quality degrades (we call it context rot), and the model picks up momentum from everything said so far, which makes it resist changing direction. When that happens, fighting the thread is a losing game.
After this lesson
- You can spot when a chat is losing its way and stop pushing.
- You know when to clean up a summary and start a fresh conversation.
- You learn to edit an earlier message to branch instead of restarting.
