What an Agent Actually Is

A software vendor's email says their "AI agents" will handle your scheduling, and a forum post says somebody's agent worked all night. Your own Claude chat looks the same as it did last month, and the word makes it sound like a new kind of AI that nobody has handed you yet. You've already used one.
