The AI confidence trap
The confidence trap is the most expensive mistake people make with AI: believing an answer because it sounded sure. The model states low-probability guesses with the exact same authority as solid facts, so tone tells you nothing about truth.
After this lesson
- You can tell the difference between how confident an AI sounds and how verified its facts are.
- You will spot when a model invents details that look real but are actually wrong.
- You stay the verifier of anything important instead of trusting the tone of AI answers.
